Today is April 4 – on this day in 1932, scientists first isolated vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in its pure form. It is essential not only for health but also for laboratory research: ascorbic acid supports cell growth and division, protects cells from oxidative stress, which is why it is included in many culture media for bioproduction and tissue engineering.
