Water-soluble substance derived from vitamin B3. It is active companion of coenzymes NAD and NADP. NAD/NADP are life-critical enzymes, since they are involved in redox processes in the cell, nutrient metabolism (primarily in glycolysis), the Krebs cycle, the respiratory electron transfer cycle.
